Group piece evaluation

For the group piece we had to produce a stop motion film. For this there wasn't a limit for time length so as a group we decided to make the film around a minute and we kind of stuck to that time, the film is just over that time. We had to do a mini-task when we had to make a small stop motion around 15 seconds. This was based around Star Wars this went well there were a few parts that didn't quite go as planned but that was quickly sorted out. For the final piece we researched the film Chronicle and decided to base our stop motion around that. After this we decided to sit down and plan out what we were going to do for the stop motion. We decided to go out and spend most of one day filming the entire project as we knew that it would take a while to shoot and could potentially take a while to edit. The filming went really well as it was filmed in a car park we did have to move out of the way of different cars passing which did mess up that scene a bit but it wasn't too badly messed up but it did give it an interesting effect.

Originally, I feel that the group plan was to have a longer version of an earlier mini task but after the group did a bit of research we decided to base it around the film Chronicle. I feel happier that we decided to base it around Chronicle as it wasn't the biggest movie like Star Wars and it was something different and not really done before.

Overall, I would say I am really pleased with how everything has come out over the project, the final piece I feel is really good there are bits here and there that could be changed to make it look a little bit better but nonetheless it looks really good. If we did it again it maybe shot somewhere else to stop the camera shake and maybe research a little more how to make objects fly in stop motion films, that I believe would have helped us a lot more in the opening scene.

Individual Piece Evaulation

For the individual assignment we needed to create a story using at least three images this could be shown through multiple exposure in one image. For this I had decided even before the we found out what the assignment was I would be basing around sport the main problem would be what sort of thing could I do for the story. It did take a while for me to decide what I could do for my story and after a bit of thinking I decided to get images of my brother kicking a football into the goal and following him about to kick it, in the air, in the goal and celebrating. After a bit of thinking I decided to change it a bit and instead of using my brother in the shoot I decided to use my dog instead. This was probably a little bit more tricky that working with my brother as the dog was a quite difficult to work with the images when he is sat with the ball and trophy, he was very co-operative. But when it came to him having the play with the football it was a little tricky and he was too interested in a different ball, so I decided to hide it behind the football to give an effect that he is playing with the football.
Overall, I am really pleased with how the story came out the editing all went fine and the photos are good and I think it has worked really well. I managed to stick to my schedule that I had set out at the start of the project which I am pleased with and it went really well on the shoot as well which is a bonus.

Final Individual piece

Dog photography

There are many different types of dog photography which include competitions, e.g. Crufts or just focusing on a specific breed of dog. This photography is based simply on Crufts there is a wide range of different things that can be photographed at the event e.g. the events going on like those photographed below or grooming on the dogs. I feel that these images are really impressive as I known for some of them a quick shutter speed would have to be used to capture the dogs running perfectly like they have done. The lighting in the image is obviously set up by the people of the competition and this can't be changed by the photographer it is set up to focus mainly on the dogs which is obviously what the photographer would have wanted. These sorts of images are likely to be featured on the photographers website, Crufts website and magazine potentially as well and maybe other publications of photography or dogs.

Group proposal

For the project we will be shooting a stop motion using the film Chronicle as an influence. This will be done as being able to create this sort of film using stop motion would be an excellent thing to do as it will not be easy as it will involve moving big objects like cars. With the car scene this will be done in the back of a car park where it will be quite so we should have no or minimal problems with the area. The only sort of risk in the entire film is towards the end of filming where I will have to pretend to fall over on to the floor and as this should only be done once it will not be too bad to film, having to re-film this scene multiple times maybe cause a risk to my knees or legs. We have research stop motion animation films and the Chronicle film to see what would be the best way to film the scenes. This was be filmed before half term over one day and only the editing needs to be done so we are ahead of schedule with this. The whole thing will be shot on Sean's Nikon D610. In the project Frances will be shooting the images, Sean will be directing and in the film along with me.
